Project Management & Leadership

Project Directors

The project directors have the responsibility to assure that the project is administered in an efficient and effective manner.

  • Bill Haver is the Project Director and has the overall leadership for the project. He has primary responsibility for the Colloquia (he will direct the first annual Summer Colloquia). He will prepare annual and final reports and lead dissemination efforts. He was a Co-PI for VCEPT.
  • Reuben Farley will have primary responsibility for the visits between paired institutions and serve as administrative contact with the subcontracting institutions. He will provide leadership for overall budget. He was PI for VCEPT.
  • Julia Cothron will have primary responsibility for Clinical Faculty program and provide liaison with school systems and state agencies. She was a Co-PI of VCEPT.
  • Carrol Rhodes-Nelson will have the primary responsibility for efforts to increase the number of minority and female students in our programs. She will be co-director of the Year Two Summer Colloquium. She was a leader of the VCEPT Teacher Apprentice activities.
  • Phillip McNeil will chair the Steering Committee (see below) and be co-director of the Year Two Summer Colloquium. He was director of the Norfolk component of VCEPT and chair of the VCEPT Steering Committee.

Management Team

The Management Team serves as the Policy Board of the project, developing/endorsing all aspects of the project including the program for the Summer Colloquia; It will regularly hear reports from each college concerning the Clinical Faculty training programs; the activities to recruit/retain prospective middle school teachers, including females and members of underrepresented groups; results of ‘paired institutional visits”; and the status of teacher preparation programs. The team includes the project director at each of the 10 colleges, the PIs, the Project Evaluator and Loren Pitt, who will serve as liaison with the Virginia Mathematics and Science Coalition and Advisory Committee.
