Dr. Aimee Ellington earned her PhD in Mathematics Education in 2000 from the University of Tennessee.  For her dissertation she conducted a meta-analysis on the use of calculators in K-12 mathematics classrooms.   She continues to study the role of technology in mathematics instruction and has extended this work to other pedagogical methods and procedures.  She uses a variety of statistical procedures including meta-analysis in her research and also incorporates qualitative methods when appropriate.  Dr. Ellington is involved in the efforts to reform college algebra.  Presently, her major emphasis is analyzing the role of Mathematics Specialists in elementary and middle schools in Virginia.  She is interested in the impact that Mathematics Specialists have on the teachers and students that they interact with on a daily basis.
